Inuit Art: 'Women in Charge'

On display for the first time in Italy are 50 drawings and prints by the Inuit artists Annie Pootoogook, Shuvinai Ashoona, Ningeokuluk Teevee and Siassi Kenneally in the tradition of the well-known artists Pitseolak Ashoona and Pootoogook Napachie.

The exhibition "Women in Charge. Contemporary Inuit artists ", curator Stefania Tiberini, Professor of American Ethnology at Sapienza University of Rome, and housed in the national museum of Prehistory and Ethnography “Luigi Pigorini", in Piazza Marconi 14, Rome, is open until the 22nd of April, 2012. The exhibition, inaugurated in December 2011 in the presence of the ambassador of Canada in Italy, James A. Fox, has been organized under the scientific supervision of the University, with the support of the Canadian Embassy in Italy and the General Directorate for Landscape, arts, architecture and contemporary art of the Italian Ministry of Culture.
