Sapienza’s teaching and research activities are coordinated by 11 faculties and carried out by 66 departments. At Sapienza there are 59 libraries available for use by students, researchers and professors. There are also 21 museums with important collections which range from ancient sculpture to mineralogy and the history of medicine. Sapienza museums are open to the public and to international visitors and researchers.
In 2009 Rector Luigi Frati started an important reform process aimed at simplifying the organisation of Sapienza University both by eliminating obsolete structures and by reorganising the faculties.
